These kitties under a cherry blossom tree are welcoming spring with hopes of experiencing more new things, as this season is usually closely tied to new beginnings and a fresh start. Inspired by this concept in April, when I first got the idea for this project, I thought it perfectly connected to my freshman year at Stuyvesant High School, the beginning of my high school journey. The kitties are a cute representation of how I met lots of great people here, and a special thanks goes out to my cat Belly for modeling them for me. This was also my first time creating a clay composition, which introduced me to loads of obstacles I never thought about beforehand. Watching the piece transform with acrylic paints was a great load of fun too.
