Art and technology. Although it often feels like we have to choose between them, they are almost inseparable. They are similar to our right and left hands; they're often seen as opposite but just as often work in tandem. The symmetrical composition was to display the idea of harmony between the two opposing subjects. The negative space allows a sense of balance and the medium grey-toned paper to show through. From the grant I was able to purchase quality vibrant soft pastels. I then used my fingers and brushes to shape and blend the pigment from the pastels while also using an eraser to clean and control the excess dust left from the pastels. Lastly, I used a soft pastel fixative, also from the grant, to secure the finished piece.
